About the test
The Ontario Private Investigator test is a 60-question, multiple-choice exam administered by Serco Canada Inc. on behalf of the Ministry of the Solicitor General. You get 75 minutes to complete it, and you need 77% (46/60) to pass. It’s a single continuous test — not split into sections. Before you can book it, you must complete the ministry’s mandatory 50-hour Basic Private Investigator Training course and receive a training completion number.
