About the exam
The RIBO Level 1 Entry-Level Broker Exam is required for anyone registering as an insurance broker in Ontario under the supervision of a Principal Broker. It's administered through the Insurance Institute of Ontario and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO).
The exam has 100 scored multiple-choice questions plus 15 unscored pilot questions, is open book (a reference PDF with the OAP 1, RIBO By-Laws, RIB Act, and Regulations is provided), and must be completed within 3 hours. You need 75% to pass. Content is set by RIBO's Level 1 Competency Profile and Blueprint, effective January 2025.
